US pressures Ukraine to lower mobilization age — media
The United States is calling on Ukraine to lower the age of mobilization to 18. They believe that this will change the fighting forces of the Ukrainian army.
This was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, November 27.
Lowering the conscription age
A senior U.S. administration official said that the United States is pressuring Kyiv to lower the mobilization age to 18 to strengthen its fighting forces in the war with Russia.
According to him, Ukraine is not mobilizing and training enough new soldiers to replace those who have died on the battlefield.
"We need manpower now. The Russians are actually making progress, steady progress in the east, and they are starting to push back the Ukrainian lines in Kursk," he said.
The United States believes that mobilization and an increase in the number of personnel can significantly affect the situation on the battlefield.
It should be noted that currently, Ukraine mobilizes persons liable for military service from the age of 25.
As we wrote earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science expelled several tens of thousands of evaders from higher education.
We also wrote that the Verkhovna Rada registered a bill to reduce the maximum mobilization age from 60 to 55 years.
