The Parliament offered to reduce the age limit for service
The Ukrainian MP, Oleksiy Honcharenko offered to reduce the age limit for military service and reserve. The age should be reduced from 60 to 55 years.
Oleksiy Honcharenko reported this via Telegram on Monday, November 25.
Reducing the age limit for service
Honcharenko noted that the relevant bill No. 12222 has already been submitted to the Ukrainian Parliament.
He also explained why this is necessary. According to him, most men aged 55–60 have poorer health, are often recognized as "partially fit" and are physically unable to perform all combat missions. In addition, servicemen who have been at the front line since 2022 need rotation or demobilization.
"Commanders note that the "army is getting older," and senior servicemen cannot always effectively perform certain combat missions. At the same time, those who want to continue their service will be able to do so by their choice," Honcharenko emphasized.
The MP noted that this initiative is supported by Ukrainians, as the petition to lower the age limit for mobilization has gained 25 thousand votes.
"This is an important step to ensure the effectiveness of the army, the rotation of military personnel, and the preservation of their health. I will insist on the speedy consideration of the bill!" Honcharenko added.
As a reminder, the MP Iryna Konstankevych explained why the conditions for reservation from mobilization will be reviewed.
In addition, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, instructed to create recruiting units in brigades to attract volunteers to the army.
